HELEN COOPER
I run my own career coaching and consultancy practice in the North Essex area and key areas of work include career coaching, supervision and research services.
I began my career in HR Managment which included staff recruitment, training and development. I went on to spend a number of years in the Economic Development field, working with a wide variety of different employment and training organisations. I then specialised in research work, focusing in particular on career, education, labour market and training issues.
I have a Masters degree in Career Management & Counselling from Birkbeck, University of London. I then went on to complete a PhD in Organizational Psychology which investigated career transitions.
I have a wide variety of work experience which can be helpful in understanding some of the many issues that clients face during their careers. I have worked in both the private and public sector at management level, but also juggled several part-time jobs to fit around family commitments. I was made redundant at one point in my career, have changed career paths a couple of times and run my own career coaching and consultancy business over the past 15 years.
So I have some personal experience of the ups and downs of working life, as well as an in-depth understanding of the latest career theories and approaches to managing careers. I work with a wide variety of clients at many different stages of their careers and based in both the private and public sectors.
